About Web Services
Web Services Organization was founded in 1997 and incorporated
in January of 2000. A decision
was made at that time to specialize in the programming needed to
develop dynamic web sites. Using Microsoft server technologies
and SQL Server database on Windows
Servers, we deliver interactive sites that are used for e-commerce,
bulletin boards, memberships, online schools, portals and blogs; any site
that needs to produce pages that are both content-driven and fast
to load.
Lynda
Postal started programming in the 1970's starting with
COBOL and FORTRAN. Not being a lot of fun, she abandoned it after
2 years to become a copywriter, graphic and page designer and mechanical
film assembler for a small printing firm in Los Angeles. During
that time, she was assigned to keep the books and perform billing
operations. To enhance her knowledge of bookkeeping procedures,
she attended accounting classes. Using her experiences in those
fields, she opened Dune Graphics in Northridge, CA where she operated
for 4 years.
After closing Dune Graphics in the late 70's, she became the head
bookkeeper for CompuPlus, a computer retailer. She rapidly advanced
to head the accounting and programming departments for the company.
During that time she became well acquainted with microcomputers
and the current operating systems (CP/M, MP/M, TurboDos and Dos.)
As head of programming she supervised and took part in the development
of a complete multi-user accounting system written in CBasic to
be bundled with the systems being sold.
CompuPlus failed in the mid-80's and she returned to the printing
industry as a working production manager for M&M Printing in
Simi Valley, CA. She purchased a PC, installed CorelDraw, PageMaker
and dBase III and created layouts for the customers of M&M Printing
and developed an estimating system for the shop in dBase.
She resigned in 1991 and moved to Missouri to be near her mother.
She became acquainted with the web in 1995 and founded Web Services
in 1997, leveraging her considerable experiences into a successful
web database programming concern.
If you are "on the fence" about Web Services and the work that is done here, consider this:
I have been in the business world since 1969.
I started out in programming in 1970 with languages and protocols that most folks today do not even know existed.
I wrote the first multi-user accounting application suite for micro-computers.
During that time I have been a corporate accountant and lead software designer. I managed 9 programmers and 14 others in accounting positions (cashiers, bookkeepers and a junior accountant.)
I know what an audit trail is. My cart applications are all 'accounting' aware.
You will, no doubt, be able to find someone to work on your site for less. And they may even be able to do a professional job of it. But most web designers and programmers don't know a general ledger from a general in the Army.
You need an application that is not only user friendly but must collect financial information from customers in a secure manner; process that information and store it in such a way that it can be transferred to a bookkeeping application. It needs to be aware of sales taxes and, in some cases import duty taxes (Canada).
The front end needs to look good, but cannot sacrifice performance for design goodies like flash and other bandwidth consuming eye candy. And you don't have to look far to see that a good percentage of
younger generation doesn't have a firm foundation in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
I am the right person for your job. I have been there and know what needs to happen to bring your site up to meet your expectations.
